T. 8 Cloudy, read some af Grundy's speech on "Foote's Resolution." Returned to read news E. H.

F. 9 Clear & cool some scholars gone to Battalion muster Big Spring. went wt Tommy home

S. 10 Looked around, found the 1ame cow dead, sent hide to Harlan, went Molley's, bottle vlngar

S. 11 Fair & much warmer Mr & Mrs Trout here, 2 men from W. Dist. called, Carthage

M. 12 As yesterday. Went school - hear Mr. Campbell returned. Slept at E. H.

T. 13 Wrote a line to T. S. Harris in Eli's letter; weather dry & warm. Wrote for J. T. night.

W. 14 Still warm & dry - returned to school- C. Organ last night wt E. H. Nighted wt E. H.

W. 21 Appearance of rain- before light went to hunt turkies saw one flying. Walked Home-

S. 25 Cloudy-storm in night past. Wrote a deed of gift for Rolly Organ, to son. after rain clears

M. 26 Clear & cool, casterated bull, went on to school, Capt. Moore sent 2 scholars. Night E. H.

On reviewing the above I find that very little rain has fallen in the aonth of April. Agriculture somewhat retarded therebywaters low for the season & the operation of steam ceases to impel boats in our waters. T. B.
