Clear & pleasant -- About an inch of snow from a storm early this morning -- Melted off mostly -- I staid at home most of day, fixing up a pair of drawers, mending, writing etc -- Wrote obituary resolutions for Jim Jewell, Virginia Lodge No 3, I.O.O.F. and for Miles Goodman, member of Exempts -- Evening at theater -- The Eunice Goodrich Company played "Little Emily" (from "David Copperfield") Very good entertainment but rather a slim house -- Been playing there 2 or 3 nights to fair houses, under a weeks engagement -- Bed at 3 --
Legislature Reporting -- At Reno
Monday Feb 2
Clear & pleasant -- Rode to Carson on morning train to report Legislature as usual -- Found would only be a short AM session by reason of funeral of (Wm Windon), Secy of the Treasury, who died Thursday evening in Washington -- So I took the express back -- arriving at 12:40 -- PM about town -- evening at office -- Bed 2 --
Tuesday Feb 3
Same -- Carson -- reported as usual -- Got report completed put it in envelope & gave it to Bob Costello the conductor of evening local for Va to deliver -- Then I waited & took down express train for Reno at 7:50 -- Arrived Reno at 9:05 -- on time -- Found all right -- Bed at 10 --

Cloudy & colder -- Morning train to Carson -- Reported as usual -- See by morning

Enterprise that my letter with report failed to connect, as Bob forgot to deliver
My Report Failed to Connect -- Snow Coodrich Co's last night -- "Innocent Salt" -- Sleighing
it -- I went to Va on evening train -- Bob had delivered report this morning early, so it went in tonight with todays report -- two in one -- I went to theater -- Goodrich Co in "Innocent Salt" -- Rather amusing -- good house for the last night -- Each of audience had 2 tickets with numbers on them given to them on entering & at conclusion drawing for a gold watch took place -- A little boy held the winning number & got the watch -- Went to Enterprise & read proof, etc -- Bed at 1:30 -- cold --
Thursday Feb 5
Morning early a big snowstorm set in -- 4 inches fell -- I went to Carson & reported as usual -- About an inch fell there -- I got back on evening train -- got in report & staid with it -- Bed at 2 -- Very cold -- Snow mostly melted off -- Some grocery & small vehicles were on runners, morning --
Windy -- E T Greeley -- "Corinne" and "Carmen"
Friday Feb 6
Cloudy and very blustering -- Highest wind of the season in Carson -- Reported as usual -- Evening at Enterprise, writing up my report, reading proof, etc -- Bed at 2 -- tired -- cold -- Got letter yesterday from E T Greeley, Aurora, Nev inquiring about insurance -- Sent reply, enclosing circular today
Saturday Feb 7
Clear & pleasant -- but cold -- Busy at room -- Evening at theater "Corinne" -- Good

house -- Bed at 2:30 -- Very good show -- in fact extra good -- The play was "Carmen" by the Kimball Opera Comique and Burlesque Co -- A sort of Spanish piece in 3 acts -- Big crowd of actors -- about 40 -- "Corinne" was the principal character -- as "Carmen" -- One of the prettiest, most dashing soubrettes in the world --

Same -- At room most of day -- PM attended regular monthly meeting of the Exempts -- Evening about town -- Bed at 12:30 -- cold 14 above zero
Monday Feb 9
c & p & cold -- Carson on morning train & back in evening -- reporting legislature as usual -- Evening at theater -- Goodyear, Elitch & Schillings Minstrels -- Big full house -- Big 1st class show -- After that I was at Enterprise, closing up my Carson report, reading proof, etc -- till 1:30 -- At room & wrote letter to Wakelee & Co enclosing $3 balance due them -- Shaved & cleaned up etc -- Bed at 4 --

Cloudy cold & threatening -- Carson reporting as usual -- Evening a few light sprinkles of snow -- 1/2 an inch -- Was at Enterprise writing, reading proof etc -- 2nd & last night of the Minstrels -- Slim house -- Bed at 1 -- 23 degrees above z --

Thursday Feb 12
Cloudy and very windy and blustering -- Carson reporting as usual -- Both houses of Legislature adjourned about noon to attend the funeral of Mrs Parker, late Matron of the State Orphans Home. I got my report all written up in time to send up by evening local passenger at 5:10 PM -- Send it by A Peterson, Assemblyman -- Then I went back to State House -- to my office -- (Ring's room) and wrote and read, & kept quiet till the regular express came down from Va, and I left at 7:50 for Reno -- Bob Wood, of Gold Hill was my traveling companion, in the smoker, He bound for San F on business -- When we arrived at Reno we had some oysters, at the

Friday Feb 13
More warm & pleasant -- but a little threatening -- Thermometer at daylight -- 42 degrees above z -- Morning train to Carson and reported as usual -- Both Houses held PM sessions, & adjourned till Monday -- Evening at Enterprise writing reading proof, etc -- Bed at 2 -- tired --

Cloudy with fierce gales all day -- Was at room and about town -- Bed at 1 -- Still blowing fiercely -- Snow Storm coming, sure -- The big wind today did some damage blowing down awnings, signs, fences etc, Biggest wind of the season --

Clouds & sunshine -- pleasant -- Morning very slippery -- Ice everywhere -- Fine sleighing -- Carson as usual -- No snow below the AM Flat tunnel -- Rained hard in Carson, Reno & everywhere outside of the Comstock all day yesterday & to midnight -- Evening about town & Enterprise -- Bed 2 -- Met Frank B Doten in town today -- Had just got in from a freighting trip & would start out again tomorrow --

Same -- Good sleighing continues -- Carson as usual -- Evening train back -- Snowing in Carson when I left -- Evening at room, Enterprise etc -- long report -- nearly 2 columns -- At room had good fire, wrote & read & didn't go to bed at all, or sleep -- Snowed some -- about an inch -- "Ole Oleson" at Opera House -- Very slim house --
