Stormy -- A heavy wet snowstorm prevailed AM & most of day, with occasional high winds -- Streets very wet & slushy -- Quite a number of visitors -- knee still improving -- Get out through the hallway as far as privy -- No pants on as yet -- Evening Zimmer & another gent called -- I played banjo, and Z my tin flageolet -- together very well -- The other man left, but Z was with me till 12:30 -- Bed at 1 -- Rec'd letter from wife, also package of clothes -- shirts, socks, collars etc --

Clear warm & pleasant -- Very sloppy & bad travelling -- Plenty of visitors -- Bed at 1

Cloudy, clushy -- light sprinkle of snow in the PM -- Evening clear & freezing -- Nothing new -- Usual visitors, Zimmer principally -- Evening, Z only -- Bed 12 --

Cloudy and rough with smart snowstorm extending into after dark -- Worked at patching my carpet where it was badly worn into holes -- Got down to it very well, considering my lame knee -- few visitors -- No news -- Lydia Hutchinson of Plymouth, Mass was his wife and now his widow,

still living at the lake -- Knew her in my youth, but never met her while I have been in Nevada -- Evening Zimmer and Tom Cavanaugh the pianist, visited me awhile -- Bed 12 --
Thursday March 5
Cloudy, cold, blustery and snow stormy -- About 4 inches of new snow since yesterday morning -- Not cold, but some snow in the air most of the time -- Plenty of visitors -- Evening Fred Clough & John H Dennis, my 2 old Ft John boys visited me -- also Zimmer -- Bed at 12 --

Fair -- Several visitors -- Evening wrote 6 page letter to Eunice -- Bed at 12 --
Saturday March 7
Clear & pleasant -- Passed as usual -- Sutherland, Haist and Zimmer came in evening, & we had a jolly little time, music, etc -- Bed 12 --

Same -- Busy writing, etc -- plenty of visitors -- Regular monthly meeting of Exempts this PM -- Bed at 12 -- La grippe more prevalent than ever -- Many down with

Tuesday March 10
Same -- very thawy & mild -- As usual till 11 PM when I got on my breeches for the 1st time & went down stairs & out on the sidewalk to where I fell 2 weeks ago -- Sidewalks being all clear & passable & having the same rubbers on I walked down to
On the Street Again -- John H Dennis Badly Hurt
the Enterprise office & to Joe Marshall's saloon & got a plate of stew & a glass of beer -- Got along 1st rate -- At 12 got back & up to Room 29 in Douglass Building -- next floor above me, to room of John H Dennis, my old pard, and now editor & local of the Va Chronicle -- He got his right arm broke about 7 PM by a tumble off sidewalk corner of C & Sutton where Joe Stewart fell & broke his ankle, about a year ago -- Bed at 1 --

Fine Spring day -- Rose at 7 -- Down to the Chronicle office before 8 -- offered my services in place of Dennis, but Al Mills had been selected to the position -- Was
Dennis -- Rain -- Exempt Benefit $6
up & down street considerably -- no slippery places -- PM at room & slept & rested -- Evening was at Enterprise awhile -- reading proof, etc, & got in a couple of items -- Bed at 3 -- Visited Dennis for an hour or so this evening -- He is having a pretty hard time -- much pain -- helpless, etc -- Got good attendance however --

Clear & pleasant -- PM about town -- Evening ditto -- L Guggenheim, Treasurer of the Exempts, paid me $6 this PM, benefit for my lame knee -- 2 wks benefit -- $6 deducted for dues to Jan 1 -- $6 rec'd -- first -- benefit I I ever rec'd from the Exempts -- Evening I was at home mostlty cooking a nice chicken I bought of McGurn --

Clear & pleasant -- St Pat's Day -- lots of green neckties out -- services at Catholic church, etc -- I about town as usual -- Col Pat Ford received his policy this morning's mail from Mutual Benefit Life Association of America, being the first I have seen from the B & M transfer -- $10,000 -- Loots & doubtless is all right -- Bed 1 -- got $40 from Campbell this evening --
Wednesday March 18
Morning a heavy snowstorm -- Walked down to the RR Depot, with a darkey friend assisting me down Union st -- Snowing hard at Carson -- & all along the route till past Steamboat, when found no more storm -- Reno nice and pleasant -- Found folks all right -- PM & evening at home -- Bed 10 -- Had a mean, restless night, the bed and my leg troubling me -- One of the most restless nights of my life -- Didn't sleep one hour of the 9 --
Legislative Session Ended -- Pratt $10 paid At Carson -- Dennis out -- Martin Ford's Funeral

Cloudy -- Morning train to Carson -- About town & at State House -- Last day of the Legislature -- the 60th -- Ends at 12 o'clock tonight, but statutory limitation -- Evening train to Va -- Was at Enterprise & about town awhile -- Bed at 1 -- A C Pratt paid me $10 today -- Owes me still $2.50 --
