Fair and cold -- 8° below zero at 7 o'clock this morning -- As before remarked it being "Lincoln Day," there was no session of the Legislature -- no other observance -- Bed at 12 -- 12° above zero by Arlington thermometer -- Utilized my own patent lamp stove this noon on a warmed up breakfast --

Cloudy & warmer -- thawy with a few light spurts of rain hail and snow in PM -- Thermometer 9° above zero this morning, a difference of 17° from yesterday morning -- The noted Nevada lottery bill, or amendment to the State constitution, passed at last session, two years ago was to have come up on a special order in the Senate at 2 PM but was postponed till same hour tomorrow by reason of President Stubbs of the State University having to address on University matters, which he did after adjournment, at 3 PM, speaking little over an hour -- I sent brief synopsis of his talk to the Journal -- Rec'd $10 from the Journal for my last 2 weeks reporting -- Bed 12 -- cloudy and thawy -- A few light spurts of rain hail or snow during the PM.
