Clear & very pleasant - A fine shower or so, early this morning laid the dust very effectually & cleared atmosphere spendidly - Had no more bills to engross today - attended session - PM joint session of both houses in Assembly chamer - chose Frank Bell State Prison Warden (re-elected) by unanimous Republican majority, the 14 Democratic votes being given complimentary, to O K Stampley - PM I wrote a bill for George M Stewart entitled "An Act for the better protection of Merchants, wholesale dealers and business men generally" - To be introduced ito the Legislature shortly - Evening about town - Met Stewart & gave him the Bill - Bed at 12 - Drew my 4th salary $42 today -

The same - a little cloudy - I reported the Legislature for the Enterprise today in place of Shaw, editor of the Enterprise who has been doing it - Got my report in full, off by the 5:15 PM train for Virginia - Got longest bill yet, this PM, to engross - Senator (Pete Markus) bill relative to reclamation of arable lands in this State - Evening attended first annual Piano Recital given by Philip Krall & his pupils at the Armory Hall, just north of the depot - Densely crowded - Had special invite but couldnt get in - staid on outside in armory adjoining where I
