My name has been
mentioned in the papers as a candidate for
U S Senator, and indeed I had designed
to make a canvass for that place. but
upon comparing notes of the expressesd
wishes of good union men in Esmeralda
Douglas Ormsby and Storey counties, and
after consultation with my friends in Washoe,
I have concluded to take their advice
and will present my name to the coming
State Convention as a candidate for the
Congressional nomination. I need not say
how proud and gratified I should be to
receive your support in this connection,

In any event I would like you in your
own way to give publicity through the
Appeal to the fact of my candidacy
