They Took Part in "Little" Convention Before Big Democratic Pow-Wow Began

Seen at the Democratic convention tea were : Mrs. Crystal Bird
Fauset, Mrs. Frances Rainey, Miss Alyce Anderson of Philadel-
phia, Mrs. Lorenzo Harris of Trenton, N.J., Mrs. Gertrude Skid-
more, Mrs. Lucy Litman and Mrs. Nellie Hazell of Philadelphia.

Refuses

Miss Alyce Anderson, sister of
Marian Anderson, has been of-
fered a councilmanic endorse-
ment by the Democratic Party,
but has refused to accept it. She
would have been eligible for
nomination in the second coun-
cilmanic district.
Miss Anderson said she was
to conduct the nationwide com-
petition for the musical scholar-
ship granted annually by her
sister and would be too busy
with auditions to campaign for
the important post.

From the toddling town of Chi-
cago comes that delightful pair,
the A. L. Jacksons and their son,
A. L. Jr. The Jacksons are a tra-
dition at Harvard, and this year
they attended the graduation of
their oldest son. While here they
were guests on historic, pictur-
esque Martin street, with Mrs.
Boone, Miss Alyce Anderson and
the Edward Henry's doing the hon-
ors.
