Advertisement to the reader

Those letters being wrote before the Peace of Reswick [Ryswick], the reader must not be surprised if things are mentioned agreeable to the state they were in at that time. The following are but a specimen, which, if relished by the publick [public], will be followed with some more by the same hands, of fresher date, and consequently more agreeable. They all contain nothing but matters of fact, known for such in the countries where they were wrote.
