To Lucy they are [nice], because she, as
cheeky and bad as she is, is very
cute. She is one of the children
whom the nurse likes best.
That takes a real cause of worry
from me.
In the third form (that is
like the first grade), I have done
so well that I once had a mark of 81
and once a mark of 86. So
last Monday, the 31st of
October, I started my first week in the Remove class,
which is equal to a much higher class,
but is still the next class.
That is a particularly
great honor for me, as
after all I am a Viennese and not an
English girl. All of the ones in
my class are not as intelligent
as I am. I’m not being
a show-off at all, but it is really so.

Now it’s five minutes to
four and I am again, only
with four children, in my
classroom. Today Lucy is at the
dentist’s and so roughly 6 or 7
teeth pulled. The poor thing is now
in the school infirmary. Naturally, she
also asked for all the pictures and
I gave them to Miss Finnis
and she gave it to the nurse,
who will give
or will give [has given] it to Lucy.
I think
that the flea [Lucy] will come as soon as tomorrow or
the day after tomorrow. That is,
I hope so.
Now it is French class
and because I’m not learning French,
I can do whatever I want.
So I have an opportunity
