Trinidad, November 17th
[Date given in English]
Today I was at the movies, in the Empire, and saw “Stand
up and fight” with Wallace Beery, Robert Taylor
and Florence Rice. It was a very nice
film. This morning I was at the school
which, unfortunately, I have to go to here. In the afternoon I
didn’t go, because lunch
was too late. I was glad!!!
So at 4:45 I went to the movies.
We have a little dog now,
and he keeps bothering me. He is only
8 weeks old and is very naughty.
Since yesterday he has had a gigantic tummy.
We think that any second he
is going to burst. He won’t let me
write. He belongs to Lucy. In
the mornings now, since I’m going to
school, I always have to get up very early.
I usually get up at 6:45.
For roughly six weeks now I have
had a bicycle and can already
ride well. Here, I go a great deal
to the movies and really enjoy going.

Today, as it is Saturday, I had no school.
We never have school on Saturday. So I
didn’t get up until fairly late.
After breakfast I went to see the laundry woman
to take her 4 dresses. Then I
went to Mrs. Huygens, one of the foremost ladies here,
to pick up a large, beautiful tablecloth
that Mama plans to sell. It’s now
quite late already and I really have to sleep.

I got up rather early this morning,
because I had to go to the market
and [it] closes on Sunday at 9
a.m. So I did the shopping. Then
I helped Mama [and] in the afternoon
the Herrenstadts came, and
Papa and Mama and Otto
played cards with them. Then I
went to the movies and was at the Globe
to see “Good girls go to Paris” with Joan
Blondell, Melvyn Douglas, and Alan Curtis.
It was rather silly, but great fun.
Now I’m sitting on the folding bed in the
room and Lucy is already asleep. We
are home all alone. I will
