[preprinted text] Looking down across the Lake to Ripogenus Dam and Mt. Katahdin West Branch Penobscot River In the big woods of Maine [/preprinted text]

F The old dam was between Ripogenus & Chesuncook, at the head of Ripogenus.

Kokadjo, Saturday, August 24. 1935 Dear Alfred: This is "Conrad in quest of his youth" The place where we bathed in Ripogenus is about 90 or 100° to the right of the present dam F (at the foot of the lake), and Thomas's camp is 10-15' under water. Caribou, Chesuncook and Ripogenus lakes are now [emphasis] one [/emphasis] ocean, and the dam is a second Niagara. Love W.
