Presidents B. Young, Geo. Q. Cannon, and Albert Carrington
Executors of the Estate of Brigham Young deceased,
Dear Brethren;

Early in the month of November 1876, I
sold to the late President Young three shares of stock in Z.C.M.I.
for 50 sacks of first class flour, market price being them $3 per sack.
I have at different times according to reports made to me, received
35 sacks of the 50 leaving 15 still due me. During the last six or
eight months, I have pleaded and urged, I think I am safe in
saying, more than fifty times for the balance of flour due me.
This Bro. James Jack well knows. As the best flour is now selling
at $2.25, and as it seems impossible to get the balance due me,
I think it would be nothing more than right to pay me the
$40.00 in money for balance due, with which I can buy 20 sacks
of flour, and which will be some compensation for having to
wait so long, and spend so much time in trying to get a settlement.

The certificate of stock is yet in my possession which I am
ready to hand over when a settlement is made.

Very respectfully yours,
Wm. Clayton
