Moline, Ills. Sep 10th 1915

HonorableMr Governor. Salt Lake City, Utah.

Dear Sir: I write you in behalf of Joe Hill a man condemned to be shot on Oct 1st 1915.

I ask that you in the name of Justice pardon this man and thus save him for a better purpose.

His trial seems to have been nothing but a farce and therefore he should have been a free man all this time but since law, such as it is now-a-days is law and he has been sentenced to be shot, I ask that you use your pardoning power in behalf of this man not criminal. Hoping that you will do this in behalf of Justice. I am Resp yours C. A. Gustafson. Moline

Dear Sir:- I have carefully [studayd?] the case of Joe Hill and have reachid the conclusion that the whole affair is a malicious persicution and placeses its [perfertralus?] beneath the contempt of the lowest murderer that ever drew the [briath?] of life. It is within your power to set aside Joe Hill's sentance. It is your duty as a man to prevent this travesty upon justice. The world looks to you, and comande you, to place humanity above money in [Utah?]. Yours for humanity, E. M. [Gleason?] Jr.

To His Excelency The Governor of Utah, Salt Lake City Utah. Dear sir. I regard the execution of Joe Hill as legalized murders appeal to you not to permit [its?] of in your judgement he must be punished I beg you commute his sentence to imprisonment. There is several reasons, I think. - which I shall not take your time to discus- why imprisonment is preferable to the death sentence. Thanking you in advance for a consideration of this brief appeal I remain yours truly H. L. [Gurbey?]

Hon. Gov. Spry Salt Lake Cy Utah

Dear Sir-

I have been reading the Joe Hilstrom case since it was started and I can see no evidence tht would connect Hilstrom with the murder. To execute a man upon such evidence would be a crime. I hope you will look into this matter and see that Hilstrom gets a square deal.

Respectfully C.E. [?]
