Spokane Wash Sept 8 1915

To the governor
of the State of Utah:

Dear Sir: I write to urge you
to stay the execution of Joe Hill
which the reports say is to take place
on October 1st 1915
From all the information I can
get in regard to this case it seems
to me that Joe Hill is not guilty of
the crimes he was charged with.
And as long as there is a reasonable
doubt of the mans guilt his life
should not be forfeited.
A great many persons beleive that
Joe Hill is being prosecuted (persecuted)
because he was connected with an
unpopular organization of laboring men
and that his exexcution is intended to
have a salutary effect on such organ
nizations rather than to punish a crime
actually committed. Of [course] you
can not be a party to such an act.
I earnestly urge you to stay this
execution.
