Wednesday Nov. 4 Went for mail at 8 A.M. Nothing for me. Went to hospital to see about sores on my back. Doctor not there. Went to library & studied until lecture. After lecture went in town with Funk & had check cashed. Had a couple of dandy Sundays. Found out that [John Creff Wickliffe] Beckam was elected Governor. Hurrah for little less blue.

Played Joe L. two games of hand ball. He won first 12-16. I won second 21-15. We then lost the ball at beginning of third game with score 5-3 in my favor. Studied awhile, saw doctor at hospital, came home & studied until Funk brought me in a letter from Grace Genevieve. Of course I quit studying then to read the news from

her. It seems she went to Virginia’s Hallow’en party. Went in Virginia’s room. Saw U.Va. pennant over dressing table, my picture on dressing table. No doubt she told Virginia that she (Grace) had a prettier pennant. It is so, but Virginia’s cost the most. She told me about fake report on Eleanor and Orville getting married.

Wrote my congratulations on a scrap of newspaper and sent it to Eleanor. Studied until 11 P.M. and then Bed. Weather — Very warm all day, rain at night. Health: Feeling bum, been out of fix for a couple of weeks. —————— Thursday Nov.5 Nothing much doing, lectures as usual. Wick got a bundle
