Dear Sir,

We have your favor 11 Inst. & at once telegraphed Mr. Beaman that you would go West unless he could meet you here on Tuesday next.

In reply we received one from him, the sense of which we gave you in the following despatch sent you at 2.30 pm.

"Telegram just received from Beaman as follows. Can't Crapo meet me tomorrow Sunday or Monday. Quite impossible Tuesday. Telegraph him at once care State Department and Arlington House."

We hope that our despatch may have reached you in season for you to advise Mr. Beaman as to what you can do in the way of meeting his wishes.

He is we know very much engaged at Washington, and if you can so alter your plans as to meet him we would like it.
