Dear Sir,
We enclose the acknowledgment of Acting Secty Hale for Certain documents relating to the claim of Jno. M. Cavalry; $3000.= The claim is probably of no value now having been presented too late, Still it is on file & if anything can be made out of it we would like it.
Do you understand from the award of the arbitrators, that Government is to take a slice out of the money to be paid, for expenses incurred in chasing Cruisers? -- & is a commission to sit at Washington to audit the claims?
