(B.) Washington Oct 11. 1861 Bro Warren All here say you must come out with the Army Paper—Chaplains want it. The soldiers beg for papers & in consultation with them all—including Br Colyer—who is well posted. They force me to write this note. Let me say. Somebody else will do it if we dont & that very soon—There is a great waking up to this work—Nassau St—Dr Bellows & c & c. We might as well circulate such matter as any other,—It will contain all facts & incidents from the camps & I can get all the chaplains to contribute—I

could use it instead of my monthly circular & S.S. & Chs—Depend upon it this, if well done, will be the Crown of our work— Use what you can for a first number (I put in some things) I will write a letter, & so make up the first no. & the 2o will make itself—I made use of your name ^"Christian Bureau"^ but they all exclaimed have it "soldiers" or "army". Some-thing distinctively military—How would "Army Paper" do? Our books & whole work are becoming well known here & are exceedingly popular—We must now keep right—our money will come—Please encour-age the committee— Yours Truly, J. W. Alvord P.S.
