My Dear

I am to sign the deed to day—& suppose all to be settled. Go on with your packing except what you want me to do. Will be there by middle the week if nothing happens—You will have to go in & sign the deed— Mr Hill will direct you—Tell me at once if they like it, & pay. I will not come on till I hear— Perhaps it is well to go to W. Will find a better place if I can, but things seem more & more difficult here, that shop will do for a month or two—Keep up good courage—

Yours in haste

J. W. Alvord

P.S. Have been up to Mt Vernon to see Mr [Silas?] [Landon?] Could go there perhaps, but it is not very pleasant & I fear Sammy would suffer by nearness to salt water

From all I can now see— we better store the furniture there in N [Carter?] or here in the basement, & board around until we find the right place. This, on a/c of Sammy—Say Winsted a little while—then back side of Brooklyn—Elizabeth— [Yankies?]—up town NYk—perhaps Mt. Vernon &c. What do you say? This will be a little like field campaigning but what better can we do? If we are sure where to go on to o/c it would be different. Better not put any thing into the shop until I come.

If I do not hear of the final

settlement of the thing by payment of the money before near the last of next week I will stop at N. Landon, where I have an appointment, & be up on Mond. morning following. We have 2 weeks after payt. to get out, by my agreement with Mrs C.

Yrs J. W. Alvord

Julia—if we are to go, better not go any more to school but help you in the bustle—Dont overdo, we have plenty of time
