[in print] National "Freedmans' Savings and Trust Company," AMERICAN EXCHANGE BANK BUILDING, No. 87 CEDAR STREET, New-York, Sept 18th 1865

[in pen] My Dears Yours expecting me home this week is here—Sorry to hear that Julia is not well—but, as it is her old complaint hope nothing serious.

Have just recd. a telegram from N.Yk saying that [unclear] Whipple & Shipard cannot be here until Wednes-day or Thursday—So that, do not ex-pect me until Friday or Saturday. If however you are sick, or Julia, telegraph me at once.

If I can stay to meet the above gentlemen it will save me from returning to W. for some time.

Cooler now—You dont say you will come to Wash. this winter. Will talk about Elizabeth &c &c.

Yrs in haste J. W. Alvord

Write me Tomorrow—
