Washington aug 23r all of them with-in a mount of lumber has been recieved and is correct with the exception of one of stain works "P," which should not have been, so Mr Perkins only furnises the 2*6 2*8 and 500 ft of [spire?] flooring. All I now require in the original [Bulionate?] is the following Items 4500 cullins 4000 flooring 2500 shingles as will be seen by the an copy. Robt. Fleming

The signal order for lumber "Colfax Industrial School" was given by the acting Asst. Commt, on the [esteem?] of the Asst. Commr the order for [thats?] portion not delivered nor conter-manded. Except 7 [ps?] 6*12*48, and balance of seconds [duped?] 2 sides (1500th)—In order to ascertain what lumber had actually been delivered I sent the list to Mr. Flemming carpenter, who noted down the items delivered. I composed these myself with the bill as rendered and found the following correct ✓ 200 ps. 3*12*16 ✓ 60 " 3*12*18 ✓ 180. Lineal feet 6*12 - 6 + 10 ✓14 PS 4*10*28 ✓ 2200 ft. Cullings ✓ 5000 " Dressed Secconds ✓ 7 PS 6*12*48 J. M. Brown Bot. Maj & D.O. The following is [disappearing?] or appearing from [the within?]— No flooring charged 500[?] said to ave been recieved. 2200 ft cullings charged 2000 ft. said to have been received from Mr. Perkins. As not expert can arrive at the quantity of lumbers accurately methods measurements any "Examinations" must be unreliable J. M. Brown Bat. Maj. & D.O.
