Office of C. A. Alvord, Printer, 15 Vandewater Street. New York Oct. 2nd, 1868.

Rev. J. W. A. My Dear friend I am this moment starting for [Had?] force, as yours of the 1st comes in. I am awfully sorry I cannot accommodate you as you suggest but I cannot squeeze [it?] out yet. We are doing first rate [word?]-[summing] evenings, and making money; but [the?] fruits of our present labors will not appear for a few months. I would if I could, but I cannot, just yet.

Thank you for your invita tion—wait a bit, and in [the?] [summer?] time, call at the "Maplewood Farm." Send me "Sucker Brook School House" by all means, and give my love to the Artist, as well as to the rest of the family. [leasts?] Truly Yours C. A. Alvord
