BRANCH OFFICE OF THE Freedman's Savings and Trust Company. Washington, D. C. Dec. 24h 1874

J W. alvord [Ez?]

[Dear?] [Sir?]

Your "Postal" of the 19h at hand. I enclose a copy of the "charter & Bylaws" as requested. The [commissions?] [refuse?] to accept the note of [fleming?], but [not?] accept the note of [seath?] & Johnson. I saw Mr Fleming the other evening and he said he was not able to pay just at present Mr that just as soon as he was able to make collection he would be ready to settle everything [up?]. Business still continues very dull here and it is almost impossible to make collection no matter how good the [notes?] may be. I will see what I can do with your [House?] and wagon, not much chance for sale of such things just at present. I will say [here?] that the [commissiones?] seem very anxious to have the notes turned [over?] [&?] then the only question being in regard to [holding?] you harmless [on?] the Fleming note. Merry christmas

Very Respectfully [Y?] W [Snickull?]
