My beloved Elizabeth
Your's of the 20th Sept was
receiv'd last evening when Mr Eyre return'd
from a ride to the Court Yard. – and I have one
more favour to thank God for, who still
hears my prayer for your health and safety.
You are so punctual in writing that I can-
not sufficiently thank you – at the same
time, I am sensible, this very punctuality
wou'd be a source of pain to me, if any chance
shou'd prevent your weekly attention in
that way; for then I wou'd be conjuring up a
thousand phantasies, and have you sick, and
I don't know what all – However write on
my child – and don't be afraid of making me
miserable by your dutiful attention to
my [?] and wishes–

I wrote you from this sweet place
by the Cart Mail, and at that time I calculated
to return home in 10 days – your your kind
father has (yesterday) taken pity on my
good sister and sent me a farther furlow, so
that I shall be here a fortnight longer
than I had feint intented – your letters could
