Wake Forest College June 7. 1870
Board of Trustees met. Members present - Brooks Carroll, Mills, Foote, Pritchard, Vann, Walters, Purefoy, John Mitchell, Jordan.
On motion Eld. J. Mitchell was appointed Chairman pro. tem. Prayer by Dr. Pritchard.
The committee on the right of Maj. Vass to a seat in the Board reported, [ ? ] on motion the action of the Board vacating his seat was rescinded and his name ordered to be enrolled again on the list of Trustees.
On motion Dr Pritchard was appointed to inform Maj. Vass of this action.
The Committee to write articles in the Recorder in regard to the College reported nothing due, and were on motion discharged.
On motion brethren Purefoy, Walters and Mills were appointed a Committee on the Agency.
Dr W. Royall having tendered his resignation as a member of the Faculty a committee consisting of J.L. Carroll, J.H. Foote and W.T. Brooks were appointed to confer with him in regard to the same.
The Treasurer offered his report which was on motion approved.
On motion the [ ? ], was instructed to return to [ ? ] his note given for the endowment of the College.
On motion agreed to return to F.M. Jordan his old note made to the endowment of the College.
The President of the College having read his annual report [ as much ? ] of it as related to the improvement

of the grounds was opened to a Committee consisting of J.S. Purefoy, J.L. Carroll and F.M. Jordan.
The part relating to the Commercial department was refered to a Committee consisting of W.T. Walters, T.H. Pritchard and A.R. Vann.
On the part relating to [ Calendar ? ] - W.T. Brooks Mills and Foote.
Upon the recommendation of the Faculty the degree of A.B. was confered upon W. Bland of New Hanover, S.W. Brewer of College Hill, M.L. Fowler, Wake, G.W. Green of Coldwell, R.E. Royall of College Hill, and C.M. Seawell of Moore.
The degree of A.M. was confered in course upon Rev. Wm Brunt of Fayetteville, and causa honoris upon Mr. Julian Henry Piers of Murfreesboro.
The degree of [ P.W. ? ] was conferred upon Rev. W.T. Brooks of Wake Forest and Prof. C.H. Loy of the Theol. Sem. of Greenville S. Carolina.
On motion Hon. John Kerr was elected a member of the Board.
A Com. consisting of Brooks, Carroll and Jordan was appointed to nominate suitable persons to fill vacancies in the Board.
Adjourned to 3 P.M.
Afternoon Session.
Met according to adjournment.
Prof. Walters was called to the chair and J.L. Carroll appointed Sec. pro. tem.
The report of the Bursar was read, and J.M. Jordan was appointed to audit said report.

On motion R.H. Marsh and B.G. Covington were elected to fill the places of A. Dockery and J.J. James.

Thursday Morning June 9.
Members present - Mills, J. Mitchell, W.H. Mitchell, Vann Walters, Overly, Marsh, Covington, Pritchard, Avera, Purefoy, Brooks, Jordan, Blount and Carroll.
The Sec, having read a communication from Dr. Royall insisting on his resignation, it was on motion accepted.
On motion W.T. Brooks, W.T. Walters, T.H. [ ? ] and J.L. Carroll were appointed on the Executive Committee.
On motion the Committee on Agency was discharged.
The following resolutions were adopted - Resolved, that the appointment of an Agent is important. Resolved, that the Ex. Com. be instructed to secure the services of some suitable man as Agent at as early a day as possible.
The Committee on Com. Dep. recommended that the Burser be instructed to devote a sum of money not exceeding $100. to its better mangement.
The recommendation was adopted.
On motion the Com. to audit the Bursar's report was discharged and the report referred to the Auditor.
On motion Prof. W.B. Royall was requested to fill his Father's place in the Faculty till further arrangements can be made.
On motion, the matter of supplying any additional instruction that may be necessary was left to the Ex. Com. in con

nection with the Faculty.
On motion of Dr. Pritchard the Ex. Com. in connection with the Faculty are authorized to appoint an additional Prof. of Languages, if in their judgement the interest of the College demands it.
On motion a Com. was appointed to confer with Dr. Wingate and Prof. W.B. in regard to any announcement necessary to be made before the audience in regard to supplying Dr. Royall's place in the Faculty Committee - Pritchard, Blount & Walters.
On motion Rev. W.T. Brooks [ ? ] was elected permanent President of the Board.
On motion W.H. Avera was elected Auditor.
On motion all unfinished business was committed to the Executive Committee.

The Executive Committee met on Wednesday the 22nd of June.
Present Dr. Brooks, Pres, Walters, Purefoy Pritchard and Carroll. Dr. Wingate and Prof. W.B. Royall of the Faculty in attendance.
On motion of C. Scarboro and C.M. [ ? ] was appointed Tutor for this ensuing term, the former at a salary of $500, and the latter at $400.
On motion Prof. Jas. A. [ ? ] of Murfreesboro appointed Agent at a salary of $1200 and { ?? ] expenses.
