2. Column No. 1 shows the stage of the water in the river below the zero of the U.S. Lake Survey which is the level [of] one foot above the high water of 1838 being 5 ft. above the City zero of Grades.

Column No 2 shows the height of the river above the zero of grades adopted in the city, which was the level of the river in March 1836.

Column No. 3 shows the depth of the water in the canal on the regulating [view?] of Medbury Stevens &c. which [?] is 12.90 ft. above the zero of grades.

Column No. 4 shows the difference of level between the canal & river.
