Christmas, 1957

Dear Vale + Dale,
I still remember you each
Christmas.

Many changes have occurred this
year for us. We moved to our
home in Dyer in June. Then in late Sept
the folks came for a brief visit.
Mother got a severe stroke Oct 1st at
7:00 A.M. and died that night in a
local hospital. It was the greatest
shock of our lives. We all miss her so.
In November I came down with Hepatitis,
a disease of the liver caused by
infected water. Daddy has been
here caring for me, the children,
and the house while I've been in
bed. Now I'm much better. We
plan to go to Florida in Jan for a
rest.

Lowell quit Western Electric to teach
Chemistry + plastics at Wright Jr. College
in Chicago. It's about 40-50 miles so he
comes home on Wednesdays + weekends.
We enjoy our children so much.
Bet you are proud of your little
trick. Would love to see him.
How are all of you? Why not
dictate a letter to your secretary?
Our correspondence is all one way except]
for a card from Vale + a letter from Dale years ago.

Lovingly, Helen Gibson

Please don't think I'm rushing the season - only helping the P. office.
