To the Senate and Assembly of the State of Wisconsin

The undersigned officers of the 2d Regiment Wisconsin Volunteer Cavalry respectfully represent that by the regulations or orders of the Government the mustering us into the Service of the United States, has been so conducted that many who have done the most labor and service, and been at the greates expense have received a very small amount of pay while others, who have done & spent less have received very much more.

Under these circumstances, we appeal to the Legislature to place in on such a footing with the Infantry that we can draw our pay and allowances , from the state for the time of service anterior to all - being mustered into the service of the United States.
