To the Governor
and Legislative Assembly of the Territory of Wisconsin

We the undersigned and the citizens who live along the shores and in the vicinity of Rock River do hereby remonstrate and give our most serious objections to having a dam made across Rock River at any point below Jefferson in this Territory.

1st it will flow the bottom lands of said river to the injury of a great number of inhabitants
2d it is infringing on sights secured to us by the General Government which right legally belongs to every individual equally to navigate said stream with all kinds of crafts.

3d. In stoping the common curent of the water it will become [segmented?] and consequently make the whole county sickly.

4th It will destroy all the [bordering?] places on said River and many other objections which we do not mention.
