Remonstrance against changing the name of the town "Lakemills"

To the Honorable, the Legislature and House of Council of the Territory of Wisconsin

We the undersigned citizens of Lakemills and its vicinity respectfully Remonstrate against the petition of a few individuals to change the name of Lakemills, at this present time, for the following reasons, viz - the name of Lakemills is more appropriate and as the place is yet in its infancy, we sincerely believe injustice to the general interest of the Inhabitants not only of the citizens of the mills & its vicinity, but to this region of country would be done by the change proposed by the said petition, sould such a law be passed.
