gression. We were hale, hearty, healthy + had no
trouble scrambling back up to the lip (and the
"lip"). No further penalties were exacted. We read
a rambling legend about how the crater was formed,
then took minibus down to slope + ate gadogaoo
cold at the restaurant at the pass. Next we
took shared taxi to nearby hot springs. An
inviting hot pool, too, but i'd no trunks and seemed
to be catching a cold, of all things. Maybe my body
got used to continuous heat + couldnt hack 60(degree)
nights at Banding. The springs alone were well
worthwhile, steaming along past many cascades
+ into hazy green paddies from below. Interesting
dark reds + greens in the streambed. The ride
back to Baning was quite roomy + comfy;
this greys thing, tho, was no lights. We'd roam
three villeages in deep dusk + a dozen kids would
barely clean out in time. As if upon a whim of
driver, he suddenly turned on the lights - just for a
little while of course. We were both glad to turn in
when we reached hotel.
Student Concessions! I'd given up on 'em bu sup't suggest it.

SAT JUNE 8 Train 7:30AM to Jogjakarta. No
good food to take; only bananas + cookies. A rather
tedious 10 hour trip, tho some good scenery. Good
