March 24: last part of 24 hours cloudy but dry. Sea smooth. General duties for the day. Keeper & 1st asst. went fishing. 1st asst. also went to Newport.

25: Light S. East wind damp first part of 24 hours. Last part of 24 hours moderate to fresh and strong breeze S to S.W. with hard rain. Sea moderately smooth. 2nd asst. keeper went to Newport.

26: Light N.W. to W. & S. West wind first part of 24 hours with frequent rain showers. Last part of 24 hours moderate breeze S. West with fair weather. Sea smooth. General duties for day. Keeper went fishing. Had 5 visitors today.

27: Fresh to moderate breeze East to S. East first part of 24 hours with dry weather. Last part of 24 hours fresh breeze South. Little damp. Sea quite smooth. Steamer Willamette Valley arrived today. Keeper & 1st asst. went fishing. 2nd asst. working in garden.

28: Fresh to moderate breeze S. to W. first part of 24 hour with rain. Last part of 24 hours light variable rain to fair weather. Sea smooth. Keeper and 2nd asst. repairing locks of Keepers dwelling. Keeper and 1st asst. went fishing. Keeper also working on the quarterly & monthly reports.

29: Light East wind first part of 24 hours with fair weather and some cloudy. Last part of 24 hours fresh breeze to gale S.E. to South. Damp weather. Sea smooth. 1st asst. went fishing. Keeper putting 200 gallons of mineral oil in oil room. ??? 2nd asst. spadeing up garden. Keeper working on returns.

30: Fresh to moderate breeze S.W. first part of 24 hours. Last part of 24 hours moderate breeze to light S.W. to West wind with frequent rain showers during 24 hours. Sea very smooth. General duties for the day. 1st asst. went to Newport. Keeper and 1st asst went fishing. Steamer Willamette Valley sailed today.

31: Strong fresh breeze and gale these 24 hours with rain moste of the 24 hours. Sea quite rough. General duties for the day. Keeper makeing out the quarterly monthly & absence(?) reports.

April 1: Fresh to strong breeze and gale S. to S.W. these 24 hours with hard rain moste of the 24 hours. Sea quite rough. General duties for the day. The barometer is down to 29.70.

2: Gale to fresh breeze S. to S. West and West these 24 hours with hard rain moste of the 24 hours. Sea quite rough. General duties for the day. The barometer down to 29.42. Keeper went over to Newport to mail the reports.

3: Heavy gale South and S. West these 24 hours with hard rain during 24 hours. Sea rough. General duties for the day. A Steam Schooner laying off light about 2 to 6 miles this afternoon.

4: Moderate breeze S.W. to light S.E. wind first part of 24 hours. Last part of 24 hours moderate to fresh breeze S.E. to South with frequent rain shower during 24 hours. Sea quite rough. General duties for the day. Keeper & 2nd asst. went to Newport. Had one visitor today.

5: Light East wind first part of 24 hours. Last part of 24 hours light variable winds and calm with frequent light rain showers during 24 hours. Sea quite smooth. Keepers cleaning lamp and illuminating apparatus measures and oil brackets. 1st asst went fishing and to Newport. Had two visitors. Keeper and 2nd asst. repairing hen coop. The steam Schooner that was laying off the light Monday afternoon passed the light at 9AM coming from the north west went down to Yaquina bay and crossed in at 1:30PM. She seems to be disabled in some way.

6: Fresh breeze N.W. with rain & hail squally during 24 hours. Sea smooth. General duties for the day. Keeper went over to Newport to see and get a report about the steam Schooner Alare Blanchard that crossed into Yaquina Bay yesterday at 1:30PM. The Alare Blanchard became disabled in the gales that have been blowing off shore the 8 or 10 days. Sails blowed away waterloged and unmanageable. Andrew Carlson & Frank Ayede crossed the the Yaquina bay bar in a small boat went abord and piloted her into Yaquina bay. In crossing bar the chain on rudder brook and got afoul of
