September 3: Calm & light variable winds first part of 24 hours - Last part of 24 hours moderate to fresh breeze N. West with fair weather but considerable smook - Sea smooth - General duties for day - Keeper & 1st asst went fishing - Steamer Willamette Valley sailed for Sanfrancisco today.

4: Light variable winds first part of 24 hours - Last part of 24 hours light south wind with thick fog and smooth during 24 hours - Sea smooth - General duties for day - 1st asst digging potatoes & went fishing - Had 4 visitors - 2nd asst went to Newport today.

5: Light variable wind & calm first part of 24 hours with some fog smook cloudy but dry weather - Last part of 24 hours moderate breeze N. West fog & smook - Sea smooth - General duties for day - 1st asst getting his crop of potates in - Keeper went fishing also 1st asst - 2nd asst also digging potatoes - Had two visitors today.

Plummer went to Chicago on a sixty days leave of absence - 2nd Asst I. L. Smith went to Newport for the mail at 10 A. M. and returned at 3 P.M. - Sea smooth - 1st Asst working in garden - had 4 visitors.

16: Light north west breeze dry to damp fog first part of 24 hours - last part of 24 hours light North West breeze with damp fog - First asst went to Newport for the mail at 2 P.M. and returned 7:16 P. M. - Sea smooth - no visitors. - Mrs G. L. Smith went on duty tonight.
