April 6: Propeller and finaly drifted inside of bay and went ashore on sand spit on south side near jetty warf. The steamers Jolanta (???) got a line hitched to her but brook. The barometer down to 29.14 but is going up.

7: Moderate breeze N.W. to light variable winds there 24 hours with frequent rail and hail squalls. Last part of 24 hours fair weather. Sea smooth. General duties for day. Keeper returned to station at 11 A.M. 1st went fishing. Had one visitor.

8: Light N. West to S.E. and South wind there 24 hour with fair weather but cool. Sea very smooth. General duties for the day. 1st ast. went fishing today. The barometer is going down at 4 P.M.

9: Fresh to strong breeze S.E. to South first part of 24 hours. Last part of 24 hours light S.W. to W.N.W. with rain and hail showers. Sea moderately smooth. General duties for the day. Keeper went fishing. Had three visitors today.

10: Light W. to S.W. and S.East first part of 24 hours. Last part of 24 fresh breeze. S.W. with frequent rain showers during 24 hours. Sea little rough. General duties for day. Keeper and 1st asst. cleaning and polishing chimney in oil room. Keeper went fishing.

11: Moderate to fresh breeze S.W. to W.N. West there 24 hours with frequent rain and hail squalls during first part of 24 hours last part of 24 hours moderately fair weather. Sea quite rough. General duties for the day. Keeper and 2nd asst went to went to Newport.

16: Moderate breeze N.W. to S. East and South wind first part of 24 hours. Last part of 24 hours. Light N. West wind rain most of the 24 hours. Sea smooth. General duties for the day. The U.S. Light House tender Columbine passed the Light at 6 P.M. going north on her way to Portland.

17: Light variable winds first part of 24 hours. Last part of 24 hours moderate breeze S.W. and West with frequent light rain showers. Sea smooth. Keeper and 2nd asst putting boards under the barn. 1st asst went fishing. Steamer Willamette Valley crossed bar today from (???).

18: Light S. West to S. East wind with light rain showers first part of 24 hours. Last part of 24 hours moderate to fresh breeze and gale S. to S. W. with rain. Sea quite smooth. 2nd asst went to Newport. Keeper went fishing and mad out requisition for supplier. 1st asst went

19: Moderat breeze to light South wind first part of 24 hours. Last part of 24 hours light wind to moderate breeze South with rain most of 24 hours. Sea very smooth. General duties for the day. Keeper and 1st asst went fishing. The Oregon Pacific railroad tug pulled the Alac Blanchard off the sand spit the 17th at about 11 P.M.

20: Strong to fresh breeze South there 24 hours first part of 24 hours rain showers. Last part of 24 hours cloudy and little damp. Sea smooth. General duties for day. Keeper and 1st asst went fishing. 1st asst went to Newport after supplier left the station at 10 A.M. Steam Willamette Valley sailed today for San Francisco at 10 A.M.

21: Light S. West to S. East wind cloudy but dry weather first part of 24 hours. Last part of 24 hours light variable wind to moderate breeze South light rain showers. Sea smooth. Keeper went fishing. 1st asst returned to station at 10 A.M.

24: Light N. West wind there 24 hours. First part of 24 hours little damp. Last part of 24 hours light fair weather. Sea little rough. General duties for the day. 1st asst. taking covers off of mineral oil cases ready to put into oil room. 1st asst. also went fishing. Keeper & 2nd asst went to Newport. US Steamer Maryanita arrived of Yaquina bar and crossed to Newport at 5AM from Astoria to do the buoy work.

25: Light variable winds first part of 24 hours. Last part of 24 hours light N. West wind with fair weather during 24 hours. Sea very smooth. Keeper and 1st asst. spadeing & planting garden & went fishing. Today U.S. Light-House tender Maryanita putting the buoys down at the entrance of Yaquina.

26: Light S. East wind & calm first part of 24 hours. Last part of 24 hours light wind to moderate breeze South. First part of 24 hours fair weather. Last part of 24 hours little damp. Sea very smooth. General duties for the day. Keeper spadeing & planting garden. 1st asst. went fishing. 2nd asst. went to Newport. Manzenita passed by light at 6AM going to Astoria having replaced buoys at Yaquina.

Keeper went to Newport to take mail. 1st asst. went fishing. 2nd asst. went over on the beach to see about cutting wood for him.

8: Moderate breeze N. West these 24 hours. First part of 24 hours rain showers. Last part of 24 hours fair weather. Sea quite rough. Keepers painting on pickett fence around Keepers dwellings & tower. 1st asst also working on road. 2nd asst planting potatoes.

9: Light N. West to East wind first part of 24 hours. Last part of 24 hours light variable winds and calm with fair weather during 24 hours. Sea moderately smooth. Keepers painting on pickett fence and painted store & chicken house.

10: Light variable wind & calm with little damp weather first part of 24 hours. Last part of 24 hours light to moderate and fresh breeze N. West with clear fine weather. Sea quite smooth. Keepers painted the barn & 1st asst quarters. 2nd asst working the road this afternoon. 1st asst. went to Newport after mail.

Engineer - Keeper & 2nd asst painted dome parapet & (stairs???) of tower black today.

Steamer Willamette arrived today.

East wind with frequent rain showers first part of 24 hours - Last part of 24 hours light west wind fair weather - Sea smooth - General duties for the day - Keeper went fishing - 1st asst returned to station from Newport at 2 P.M. where he went to see the Doctor about his eye - The Doctor advised him to go to Portland and have an operation performed on it. Steamer Willamette sailed for Sanfrancisco - A tug came up from Sanfrancisco to tow the Alac Blanchard to Sanfrancisco and left Yaquina today at 4:30 P.M.

May 21: Keeper went to Newport to take Mr. Rice 1st Asst who is on his way to Portland to see a specialist about his eye as it is getting worse every day. Had two visitor today. Left the Station at 9:30 A.M.

22: Calm and light West wind with fair weather first part of 24 hours - Last part of 24 hours moderate to fresh breeze South to N. West with rain showers. Sea smooth - General duties for the day - Keeper & 2nd asst went fishing.

23: Moderate to fresh breeze N. West these 24 hours first part of 24 hours rain showers - Last pat of 24 hours fair weather - Sea quite rough - Keeper and 2nd asst putting up stage and painting brackets black.

24: Moderate to fresh and strong breeze N. West these 24 hours with fair weather - Sea moderately smooth - Keeper and 2nd asst finished painting the Brackets on tower - and whitewashed some fences today.

25: Fresh to moderate breeze N. West these 24 hours - first part of 24 hours fair weather - Last part of 24 hours some damp fog - Sea smooth - Keeper and 2nd asst whitewashing fences around the cape.

26: Calm & light N. West wind first part of 24 hours - Last part of 24 hours moderate to fresh and strong breeze N.W. with fair weather during 24 hours - Sea moderately smooth - Keeper went over to Newport to get some supplies and get the mail - U.S. Steamer Manzenita passed by this light at 2 P.M. going south stoped and placed the bouy off of Yaquina bar. Steamer Willamette Valley arrived off the bar at 4 P.M. and crossed in at 5:30 P.M. from San Francisco - Keeper and 2nd asst started to paint on the tower did paint a little but had to stop there being to much wind - Manzanita passed into Newport at 7 P.M.

West these 24 hours first part of 24 hours little damp - last part of 24 hours fair weather - Sea smooth - General duties for the day - Keeper and 2nd asst working in the garden - The barometer stands 29.87. The U.S. Steamer Manzanita came out of Yaquina bay at 8:30 A.M. and steamed away south. Willamette Valley sailed for San Francisco at 7:30 P.M.

28: Light N. West wind with fog showers first part of 24 hours - Last part of 24 hours light West to N. West wind with fair weather - Sea very smooth - Keeper went to Newport after the mail - 2nd Asst working in garden.

29: Moderate breeze N. West with rain showers first part of 24 hours - Last part of 24 hours light N. West wind fair weather - Sea quite rough - Keeper & 2nd asst painting on tower & base & Oil House - Also cleaning & rakeing up the chicken yard.

June 1: Calm & light variable winds these 24 hours with fair and warm weather - Sea quite smooth - General duties for day - 2nd asst went to Newpot to take & get mail - U.S. Steamer Manzanita laying off of Yaquina bar at 4 A.M. she passed this light at 10 A. M. going North.

2: Fresh breeze N. West these 24 hours first part of 24 hours light rain showers - Last part of 24 hours fair weather - Sea moderately smooth - Keeper whitewashig garden fence also painting stepps around dwelling & mixing white paint to paint office & Oil-House.

3: Moderate to fresh & strong breeze N. West these 24 hours with fair weather during 24 hours - Sea a little rough - Keeper & 2nd asst painting office & Oil-House white - Also painted pump frame & Keeper back stepps of dwelling. A gentleman two ladies and two boys came at the dwelling at 12 noon to go up in the tower - Told them they could go up after dinner which would be in about an hour but they would not wait.

4: Light variable winds and calm first part of 24 hours - Last part of 24 hours fresh breeze East clear fine and warm during 24 hours - Sea very smooth - General duties for the day - Keeper went fishing - Keeper & 2nd showing seventeen visitors in tower.

June 5: Moderate breeze South these 24 hours first part of 24 hours little damp - Last part of 24 hours fair weather - Sea very smooth - The barometer stands 29.82 - Keeper and 2nd asst cleaning and prepairing to paint the interior of the Lantern & Lenns & Watchroom - Steamer Willamette Valley arriving & crossed bar this morning.

6: Fresh to strong breeze to a gale South these 24 hours with frequent rain showers during 24 hours - Sea moderately smooth - Keeper & 2nd asst painting inside of Lantern white also ??? - Keeper also went to Newport after the mail.

7: Light S. West to West wind these 24 hours - first part of 24 hours light rain showers - Last part of 24 hours fair weather - Sea smooth - Keeper and 2nd asst finished painting lantern - 2nd asst cleaning lenns frame to prepare it for painting - Keper went to Newport. Steamer Willammett Valley sailed today for Sanfrancisco.
