May 17: Fresh breeze West to N. West these 24 hours - First part of 24 hours rain showers - Last part of 24 hours clearing weather - Sea quite rough - Barometer 29.76 to 30.06 - Keeper & assts scrubbing lantern floor whitewashing in lantern painting in lantern brushing the walls inside of Tower and putting 200 gallons of mineral oil in Oil butts - 1st asst went to Newport after mail & supplies

May 18: Fresh to strong breeze W. N. West these 24 hours - First part of 24 hours frequent rain & hail squalls - Last part of 24 hours cloudy and cool - Sea rough - Barometer 30.05 to 29.94 - Keeper & assts painted lantern floor & steps black - Keeper & 2nd asst went to Newport after mail & supplies

May 19: Fresh breeze West N. West these 24 hours with light rain showers - Sea quite rough - Barometer 29.92 - Keeper and assts cleaning and whitewashing inside of the Tower & mixing paint - 1st asst went to Newport after mail and supplies

May 20: Moderate breeze to light wind W. N. West these 24 hours cloudy but dry - Sea quite rough - Barometer 29.93 to 29.87 - Keeper and assts painted stairs & landings black in tower and cleaning plate glass in lantern - Had three visitors today

May 21: Light South wind thick and damp first part of 24 hours - Last part of 24 hours light variable winds fair and warmer - Barometer 29.86 to 29.90 - Keeper and assts cleaning & polishing lenses - Keeper and 1st asst working in the garden - 1st asst also went fishing - 2nd asst went to Newport after mail and supplies - Keeper writing in office

May 22: Light variable winds these 24 hours - First part of 24 hours fair and dry - Last part of 24 hours light rain showers - Sea smooth - Barometer 29.86 to 29.98 - Had three visitors - U.S. Light-House Tender Manganita passed sta going north at 5AM - Keeper & assts painted trimming of workroom lead collor window stools in Tower & whitewashingfences - 2nd assts went to newport for recreation left sta at 1PM

May 23: Moderate to fresh breeze North these 24 hours - First part of 24 hours light rain - Last part of 24 hours clear fine weather - Sea smooth - Barometer 30.06 - Keeper & assts painted stars & landing in Tower & scrubbing office & work room floors - 2nd asst returned to sta at 8A.M. - 1st asst went to Newport after supplies

May 24: Moderate to fresh breeze North these 24 hours with clear fine weather - Sea smooth - Barometer 30.06 to 29.98 - 1st and 2nd assts whitewashing fences - 1st asst went fishing - Keeper went to Newport after mail and supplies - Had two visitors

May 25: Moderate breeze North with clear fine weather these 24 hours - Sea smooth - Barometer 29.95 - General duties for day - 2nd assts went to Newport today

May 26: Moderate breeze North these 24 hours with clear fine weather - Sea smooth - Barometer 29.86 - Keeper and assts painted brackets today on Tower and put stage up to pain the brick part of Tower - also mixing white paint to paint the Tower

May 27: Light wind North to South these 24 hours - First part of 24 hours thick fog and light rain - Last part of 24 hours light rain showers - Sea smooth - Barometer 29.96 to 30.00 - 1st asst cleaning whitewashing & painting in his quarters - Keeper went to Newport after mail & supplies

May 28: Light wind to moderate breeze S. with light rain showers these 24 hours - Sea smooth - Barometer 29.90 - 2nd asst went to newport on business - 1st asst painting in his quarters

May 29: Light S. West wind these 24 hours with frequent rain showers - Sea smooth - Barometer 29.90 to 29.97 - Keeper and assts painting the brick part of the Tower white - Also mixing paint to pain the ballance of Tower

May 30: Light S.W. to S. East wind with frequent rain showers first part of 24 hours - Last part of 24 hours light wind to moderate and fresh breeze North fair - Sea smooth - Barometer 29.90 to 29.80 - Keeper & assts completed painting Tower - 2nd assts went to Newport - 1st asst went fishing

May 31: Moderate breeze to light North wind with frequent rain showers first part of 24 hours - Last part of 24 hours moderate and fresh breeze North showery & fair - Sea smooth - Barometer 29.65 to 29.74 - 1st & 2nd assts whitewashing garden fence - Keeper went to Newport after mail & supplies
