The enclosed are copies of telegrams just received from the Engineer of the 13th District in regard to Cape Foulweather lanterns. They are not entirely intelligible but you are requested to consider them in connection with the Boards letter of yesterday asking if you sent glass for the lantern and when. It is feared that as Cape Foulweather is so nearly inaccessible that considerable delay will occur in the lighting of the Light House.

Three of the sixteen boxes of lantern are at Foulweather contain glass, the missing boxes are now six of the following numbers ten eleven twelve thirteen. Gen Michler says they are not in San Francisco the glass floor lights are also missing three weeks after these boxes reach Portland the light can be exhibited.

A mistake was made in shipping from New York three boxes of glass instead of lantern details mentioned in my ((illegible) ... ...) sixteen boxes was received but I found when I went (illegible) Foul Weather that there on the list were missing the mistake (illegible) the boxes should be sent immediately.

Sixteen boxes and sixteen pieces Foulweather lantern, and three boxes of glass shipped by Ocean Queen from New York in March last. Bill of lading sent to Williamson and received by you. Three boxes containing parts of lantern are missing, and must be in San Francisco. Let Winship hunt(?) them up and inform Robert and Board of result. Suspend all payment for freight.

Sixteen boxes in addition to three boxes glass for Foulweather lantern were shipped in March by Ocean Queen. Bills of la(n)ding were sent to Williamson. Michler has been directed to have Winship hunt them up and inform you. If necessary go to San Francisco yourself and inform Board of result.
