I had expected to do the work by days labor, but it is possible that it may be let out by contract, if by such a course the work can be done much more economically. The building would have to be inclosed (sic) by the 1st of November 1871. and completed before June 30. 1872. The site of the Lighthouse is about 4 1/2 miles from Newport on Yaquina Bay.
