Respirting the Gore Carter knows that James Parker and Thomas Hathway applyed to Govener Clinton at the rally in the year 1790 for what is called the Gor (edge torn) for the benefit of the Community of universal Friends and having abtained encoragement sent this deponant the same year to Governer Clinton at New York on the same subjest and the Governer replied that the friends should have the lands requested but at that time there was no Commssioner of land office appointed but that as soon as the Legislature met he would have Commssioner appointed and use his influsnce that the friends should have the land,

land Commissioners of land office And that after the said ^ were granted Thoms Hathway came to Albany to endeaver to sit aside the large claim of Parker and Potter and to have the lands divided according to the original intention among the friends and complained much of Potters paying his own money for a large part of said land, and said he had tendered the money to said Potter after he had paid a large sum and that Potter would not recive it, and that he then requested the Secretary to make an entry of said tender and that he did_ Said Hathway borded with this deposa (edge torn) often said it was his with to have the said lands divided according to the first intention and went & converssed with the Governer upon the Subject, and the Governer refured him to Saml Jones the present Comtroaler for councell on the subject and afterwards expressed much infaryness that he could not pue ceed according to his wishes, and many times after said he held land which did not belong to him but
