The plaintiff then proved and read in evidence, the sheriffs deed
to him, for the land in controversy, said deed was made under
a sale by the Sheriff St Clair County- by virtue of a levy made
under said execution, and is in the words and (?) follo=
wing

St Clair County

To all to whome these presents shall come
I John Collins, Sheriff of said county
send Greeting, whereas by virtue of an execution to writ a
writ of firm [faeias?]. Issued from the Circuit Court of St Clair
County and to me [anietid?]. Tested 22nd day of April 1847, which
was, on the 27th day of April 1847, legally levied on a certain
lived-on parcel of land lying and being in said County
of St Clair known and desegnated as Section Nineteen
Township Eighteen, Range Three, East in the Tuscaloosa
Land District. As the property of Robert Lawson, to satisty a
judgement against said Robert Lawson, in favor of William
Johnson for two hundred and eighty dollars besides east
[undend?] by said circuit court at its fall term 1830. To writ
on the 8th day of November 1830. By virtue of which (?)
I did [ex-?] to sale public sale. The said tract of land
at the court house door in the town of Asheville. On the first
Monday in June 1847, ascennding to the statute in such
cases made and provided, and did then and there
lawfully sell said land to William Johnson, for the sum
of fifty dollars, it being the highest sum bid for the [same?],
Notice of said levy was by me posted on said land ac=
cording to law at the time of said levy/
Now know ye, that I the said John Collins, By virtue of
said writ deed of the statute in such [cause?] made and provided
in consideration of the sum of fifty dollars to me in hand
paid. The receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged. Have granted
[payment?] and sold and by these [p?] do grant bargain and
sale unto the said William Johnson, his (?) execution &
administration, all the estate right title and interest, claim
and [d?] which the said Robert Lawson had in
the above [discussed?] tract or parcel of land, on the eight day
of November 1830, or at any time since or now hath, to have
and to hold the said premises? and every part thereof with the
[app-?] unto the said William Johnson, his [sum?] and as=
signs for ever, as fully and absolutely as I, the sheriff under
the authority aforesaid might could or ought to convey the same
in testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this
17th day of June 1847.
