A Honest Negro. We reported, yesterday,
the fact of the acquittal of Pierce Stephens,
a colored man, charged with the murder of
young Carmichael, on Christmas, 1865. We
were informed yesterday, by one of the bailiffs
of the Court, that a short time subsequent to
his acquittal, Pierce told him (the bailiff) in the
Court House
, that he (Pierce) was present at
the time of the murder of young Carmichael,
and knew who killed him! Is there no law to
reach this man now?
