Dear John,

I forgot to tell you just before leaving that if any thing is favorable, tomorrow morning at the Hall you would ask Judge Pottle just to go up & take pot luck with you while you stay there. Tell him I greatly regretted every thing was so pell mell at home, I could not accomodate the bar as usual - but you wd have a bed fixed up for himself & you & Genl Toombs. & tell Spencer to get some kind of a vehicle, and be at the depot to take Genl Toombs up in. You and Pottle can walk up, as I expect Spencers team will hardly be able to take all three of you - in all these matters though do as you think best. I will try & have the fresh meat sent down by to morrow's Express. Tell Spencer to be at the depot for them. It is now 4 P.M. and well as usual.

Yours truly

A.H.S.
