September 20, 1849 - October 3, 1849

out 2 Hhds wheat. Fed mending Cates shoes
Lila spining. Rained smartly during the day -

21st Cutting tops this morning & shacking up
still cloudy & cool. Henry did not get back last night

22 waggon got back yesterday evening
being gone nearly 4 days, we finished
cutting our tops & shacking yesterday 21st
This morning we worming & succoring our
branch & making scaffolds & thencuttingfor
cloudy & like for Rain weather warmer
cut about ½ little second yrs ground & it Rainedhard
& got all the Rain that fell Hung it in evening
Began to chink & fix new Barn Sent 4½
Bushels grain to mill this day

23rd Beautiful a little cool have not cut
much of our Tobacco yet, a good deal ripe

24. Cutting Tobacco finished over once big second
yrs ground little Do & little new ground, & began this
evening on Branch weather cool, cutnew Lotover our [na-?]

25. Housing soon this morning little barn at second
yrs ground cut there pretty tobacco not Large

26. cutting in new ground this day -

27. Finished cutting over new ground & filling prize
Barn cloudy & like for Rain little cool

28 Halling woodto Barn Polls etc firing prize Barn worming
& succoring over to day - Jacob school this weekdid not go to

29 Finished worming & succoring over Tobacco
Firing prize Barn made Top stack frame
Henry Halling Rocks & fixing new Barn to
put Tobacco in 1 or 2 helping him Digging PotatoesIrish Pot
clear moderate weather —

30. fair pretty day - cloudy & warm & like for Rain

Oct 1 we are finishing our Barn Halling in
little new ground & getting up Top fodder like
for Rain in evening Thunder cloud passing by in even[ing]

2 cloudy This morning all our Topswill be caught
as we have not finished no part after stack
all gathered in Piles, - firing 2 Barns Tobacco
Finished this night Rain some - Barn & little in our [unclear]

3rd Put all the Tobacco in we have cut filled need
