1858 Wednesday 21st Rained about 1 Oclock last
night I got home from Court about
midnight and rained tremendous hard Twice
striping Tobacco This morning not
ready to plant corn yet moderate weather
except very wet, etc Turned out
Our Cows This morning —

22nd Halled up 2 stacks Blade fodder
this morning, & 2 stacks Oats, Plowing for
corn this morning & expect to beging to
Plant corn to day - chumbly & Buck at work
on Hen House, alse & jerry Smith Hilling
will send to day up to Plantation after
Mike, as Jacob has bot a mare of Gipsies
& says he borrowed the money of Wm Cook
to pay for $115. She is to work in mikes
place & I take him home for me to ride,
Beautiful weather about this time,

23 Planting Corn, alse little & Jerry Smith
Hilling up here, at Crews Jordan crossing
& trying to finish up there to day fine day
windy & drying weather - Mr Little sets
this morning to get Shingles

24th Sent Jordan to Yates Mill 1 Log for weather
Boarding & 2½ Bushel corn for meal weighed &
to bring back 4 Bushels for me weighed & 1
For Chumbly,- Sent 1½ Bushels Corn to Mrs
Hunt
s to swap for seed planting corn next to
orchard, Henry laying off for chicked corn
left hand side of path going thro field
little Henry & alse Hilling - very cool &
clear this morning my meal & overseers
dont hold out by 3 lb in each bag 3 bags
Horse came from Cedar Hill about the
20th april for me to ride
