July 31, 1857 - August 25, 1857

31st July 1857 Went to Riceville fine day Hilled
up Fresh ground at Johns’s Spring –

Augt 14th Sent to Mill to day 3 Turns Corn 1 Bus
wheat for me, Grubbing on Branch
Sent this day to Capt Geo Gilberts mill 2 Bags
seed Cotton to Pick 42½ lbs & 45 lbs 4 Bus. Corn & 1 Bus

Finished working Lot — Recd the Cotton

16th went to meeting Settle Preached
This day Fannie White & myself sent
Jacob P. enclosed in a letter $25 a
ps making $50 for him to come upon
& put in the offices at Chalk Level
On Monday the 17 of August 1857

17th cloudy & like for Rain, cleaning grass off
Plant Bed &- expect to cover it up close
on road, Jordan & Sandy toping Tobacco
over,-

18th Showers but very late they have been
shrubing fixing, plant bed & Ice Ponds etc-

20 Sent up to Fannies to get out wheat
wrote to Mr Baily about Buggy
Finished in ½ day Henry Sandy claiborne Buck
Little Henry & 2 Horse. Balance of our folks
succoring Tobacco Tobacco gathering primings
etc machine brot Home this evening,

21st Toping Tobacco shrubing on branch saving
primings, I went to association come back Saturday
went again monday morning. Pleasant Grove
in Campbell,- dry weather

22nd Same work making mountain fence

23 Stayed at home

24 went to association folds shrubing
fencing & Tying up primings like for Rain

25th Fixing to machine wheat fixing at lot
