February 13, 1858 - February 20, 1858

1858 February 13th Snowed all night, wind N E
9 Oclock Snowing & Hailing fast & snow 9 or 10 Inches
Deep, Desperate weather On every thing at this time,

14th Looks a little like clearing off not very
Cold I fear we will loose a calf

14 Lambs to this time one is crippled I don't
Know how, but drags one Leg –
Snow about 10 or 11 Inches Deep
& dont melt any to this time –
started to court Sunday quite cold got my Hogs this morning from mountain myself & desperate weather

15 I returned at night to day Henry Halled
2 Logs to Yates Mill carried 2 Bags Corn
for us 1 for overseer & brot back 2 for me
Halled Some Ice broke flax & cut some old
Logs in new ground

16th Halling Ice & wood to day fair
pretty weather over Head —
Jacob came down to day & got a Load of shucks
& Fodder, Federick Cut a pair of shoes for Nannie
Sallie & Jacob & Carried them home to make
Sole & upper, give him thread also – Jacob got
meat, Poker, Fat, etc

17th Halled another stack fodder from mountain
Halling Out Straw Covered Ice in house
Henry Halling wood from fresh ground
cloudy & like for falling weather
Sewed clover seed in wheat Lot this
morning Cutting old Logs burning brush etc

18th malling & burning Logs at overseers house
that Crews left last year alse swingling flax
Shrubing where Crews cleared last year

19th Raining this morning before day & continued
drizling a little all day but did not stop us from
malling wood at overseers House, cold winters day

20th Snowed last night about 2 Inches Deep, rained
& [water stain] night, disagreeable night
