1871 June 17th gone to Plowing & soon it began
Thunder & Raining - hard for 1½ hours & then
moderately till 12 oclock replanting new ground

18th Raining in the night & this morning I
Went to Sunday School & Started to Court
Bees swarmed Just as I started

19. Replanted Tobacco & Weeding Corn Mattherly
Came at 12 oclock Plowing up Turnip Patch
Truck Patch on Hill & then in Corn field
cleaned out Granary this morning

20th. Laying by corn on right side of Path in
Johns field & weeding nearly done weeding
1st planting corn & began on last planting

21st Plowing corn on Johns branch on
somewhere in the field till 12 oclock & then
we expect to set corn in slope about Johns
Spring Sam Plowing ps corn next to woods
above Spring Clear & hot day. I went to old [place]
Alex & Edmonds yesterday Robert Came
here in Sam Tuckers place this morning
yesterday gave Jere H Graves Admr of John
D Hunt Desd $130 to go after or send for
Alice Hunt, Hollins institute, —

22nd Triming down Tobacco Martin & Robt & Andrew
Mr Mattherly Plowing & Harrowing by Johns
Spring Nannie gone to let Doron have $70 to pay his board
& tuition at Haley & give Nannie $3 for coffee
at Whiteheads & Hunts & $1.50 to pay Mrs
Thurman for making Coat for me.

23rd Hauling up wheat to day. Nannie & Doron
Came home this evening from JR Whitehead
& Doron from School. Sam Plowing working in corn Martin

24 .Hauling up wheat & will try & get done to day
finished Martin pretending to weed corn by
Johns Spring Sam weeding corn this evening
Mattherly Plowing Peas & fresh ground Tobacco
& Greens etc Seeded Turnips on hill this week
