January 29, 1870 - February, 1870

1871 Janry 29th. Still Cloudy - the sun shined a
little in evening weather more moderate

30th Still cloudy & we striping Tobacco back
of Garden nearly done mine in that barn
Creed J Tucker & Edmond Tucker here about
their matters, as pr agreement I hold, -
Martin Smith striped 3 days last week & to day

31st. Striping Tobacco cloudy Martin striped,

Febry 1st Striping Tobacco & Raining nearly all day
Martin striping weather more moderate Martin striped5 days
this days makes, cloudy more than a week,

2nd Feby. Finished striping Tobacco in Barn
back of Garden Miller Came down to
strip Richards Tobacco to day. —

3rd. Sam gone to Millers Mill Carried 2
Bags Corn for me 1 Turn for himself 1 Turn
Corn & 1 Bushel wheat for Marten Carried to Mill
Richard Whitehead Sent here 2 Mules & 2
negroes after fodder for himself Sam got all
his meal, & brot it home drying day
Martin Sam Tucker Ben & Lewis striped
Tobacco for JR Whitehead this day

4th. Tom Lain & his 2 Daughter Come back
again to strip Tobacco for Richard Whitehead
clear & moderate, Sam will hall some straw
out to Rack then a load or Two of wood for
himself then he will take Martins place with
Sam Tucker & Ben & Lewis striping Tobacco for
JR Whitehead. I am going to James Kelleys
& Mr Hunts place, clear day weather moderate

5th. Moderate & tolerable fair my wife gone to see Sallie
as the weather is moderate Millard Whitehead carried her
& before night snowing - weather cooler —

6th Snowed nearly or quite all night Snow nearly shoe
Deep this morning & snowing still Sam hauling up 1
stack Oats this morning & will hauled some shucks for
steers & then some wood for himself snowing, Martin
did not come to help haul Oats, but helped get
