A. If there was a contract it was executed
by the officers of that Company. Who they
were I do not remember.

Q. 759 Was not that road managed by an
executive committee, consisting of Leland
Stanford
and Mark Hopkins, at the time those
repairs were made?

A. I don't know by whom it was managed.

Q. 760 Did you ever have any relations relating
to the repairs upon the California Pacific
Railroad, so far as making any contract for
such repairs is concerned, with any human
being other than Leland Stanford, Mark Hop=
=kins
, Charles Crocker or C. P. Huntington?

A. I do not remember as to the parties who
signed the contract for the work on the California
Pacific.

Q. 761 You do not recollect whether or not any
such contract was signed?

A. I do not remember whether there was a
written contract or not.

Q. 762 Do you know of any persons, other than
those I have mentioned, making any contract
with or giving any directions to the Contract
and Finance Company for the performance of any
