her coloure eke . so lyvely . and so bright . her eyen . brend semyng as fuyr clere passyng ful ferr[e] . above mannes sight . as þough she were ful clere and clene of myght . as she had bene ful yongly of corage . yet semed she to every worldly wight . þat she was ovre passed mannes age . ¶ her stature was of doutfull juggement . som tyme þus as cr.e? mannes . meet . and som tyme was her statue so existent that wiþ her hedd . she semed heven beet . And others while her hede so hy she geet . she persyd heven . and myght no more be seyne . so þat we must þe sight of hir forlete . and alle oure lokynge . after . was in veyne . ¶ her clothes wrought were . of thredes . smale . wiþ sotell craft of nature . p[er]durable . And wiþ her hondes . by her oune tale . she had hem wrought . I. holde it no fable . þe beaute of hir was . ful comendable . ¶ Neverþeles som men by violence. had but þis clothe . and peces bore awaye. Such as þei might . wiþ oute reverence a[n]d did thewith as was un to her paye. This creature of whome I gan yow saye. In her honde smale bokes were. A . ceptre also of full riche araye. In certeun in her othre honde . she bere. ¶ And whan þis woman sawe þes muses there unto my beddis side . aproche ny. endytyng wordes . to my wepyng chere. She gan to loke upon hem fervently. who hath she saide lete in þis company. þus wiþ her songe . þis syke man to plese. that no þinge helpeth hym . of his malady. But rather doth hym grevu[n]ce and disese. ¶ lo þes it be . she saide . þat folkes feden. with swete venym . of corrupcionn. and tendre hertes make for to belden. with thornes full of her affectionn. they selue þe worthi fruytes of resonn. And onely bryngen siknes in usage. this is þe kynde of her condicionn. and noght at all sikenes to aswage. ¶ Yf yee she saide . wiþ youre daliannce. had fro me draw som fole unprofitable. Ful lesse hit wolde have . do me displeasannce. I[?] might have susteyned þat as suffrable. For whi . in suche a fole . þat is unable . may not be harmed of my besynes . But þis þat ev[er]e in stody hath stonde stable.

Sholde . not be foundid with youre folynes . ¶ But go . yee . filthes out of my presence . youre swetnesse . wolde hym brynge at an ende . I shalle hym . save . wiþ salve of my science . þat shall be more . comforte unto his kynde . And þus þis companye . awaye . gan . wynde . and sikrely[?] abasshes . of her blame . Shewyns in sothe . þe abyte of her mynde . hangyng downe her hede to grounde for shame ¶ I beyng nygh . for teres sawe . right . noght . merveiled moche . what myght þis woman be. I wondred . also gretly . in my þoght . that so imp[er]ial . of auctoritee . she made þat meyne . so smertly for to flee . I was abassshed . and hyng myn . hede to grounde . ¶ Un.to me þan gan . she . negh . nere. and on þe corner doune hir self she sette And sadly gan biholde . upon my chere that so was all wiþ teres by wette And right þus she biganne wiþ oute lette compleynyng upon my perturbacioun . For cause of myschief . where wiþ I was mette of me she made þis lamentacioun . Heu . q[ua]m precipiti mersa profundo . & c Allas she saide . hou . þat þis mannes mynde . ¶ Prosa } is ccasten doune now in to to depe derknesse . p[r]ima } Forlet . þe clerenesse of his propre kynde . menyng to go to strange derknesse . as oft tyme . as noyous bisynesse .
