Mon Sept 24 A pretty little sunshiny day. John and I went to town and got some boxes and barrels to take fruit to Cheyenne. We got a good load loaded up and I guess that the boys will get a pretty early start int the morning. Will Golden was here to day [today] and helped us pick the fruit.

Tues Sept 25 In the morning it was pretty cool but after while [awhile] it got as fine as a fool and all the rest of the day it held to that rule. The boys started this morning for Cheyenne with a load of fruit to sell if they can. I chored around at one thing and another and come in two or three times to talk a little with Mother this afternoon. I cut a little corn and found it some work as true as your born.

Wed Sept 26 Delightful and quite warm too. I was subpoened to attend a suit in the court house and have put in the day there and walked home to night [tonight]. I rode over this morning with Mr Osburn the deputy Sheriff. The suit was the Larimer co Ditch co vs the big Eaton ditch in regard to priorities of Reservoirs etc.

Thurs Sept 27 Fine and pretty warm. The boys have not got back yet. I went over to town and was sworn this forenoon and this afternoon I came home and put in my time choring around and getting ready to run some water into the cistern.

[bottom to top written over other text] Was interrupted by Mrs Marsh about the Spring Canion [Canyon] Place

Sun Sept 30 A pretty nice day but a small frost this morning. Johny and Will went to Spring Canion [Canyon] to day [today]. They found a whole family in the Casey house about a dozzen [dozen] of them and I guess a danged bad lot. Mother and I staid [stayed] alone most of the time to day [today]. Lill went over to Reas's. Lews folks were here a little while just night.

Mon Oct 1st Mostly clear but the wind blew pretty hard all day and it was rather cold. John and I ground a sickle and then we cut up corn the rest of the day and we got nearly done too.

Tues Oct 2 Clear most of the day but O my how the wind did howl. John and I gathered the punkins [pumpkins] this forenoon. Had six loads and this afternoon Johny gathered apples and I made a nice fruit cupboard under the stairs and got out a couple of shelves for Meda.

Wed Oct 3 A very good day. Johny and I gathered apples and got quite a lot of them too.

Thurs Oct 3 Very fine day. We went to Loveland to the Free street fair. Our crowd was Mother and Annie Dixon and Lizzie Golden and Johny and myself. We got a rush on us and got over to the depot more than an hour before the train started out. Had a very pleasant ride to Loveland and a nice time after we got there and saw the finest display of fruit vegetables and cerals [cereals] that I ever saw anywhere but we got tired of standing and walking around and was glad when the train came along and brought us to Collins. Got home before we went to bed which was near 10 O clock.

Fri Oct 5 Another very fine day. Johny picked and picked up apples and I mowed part of the 6 acre piece and began a little to cut the native meadow.

Sat Oct 6 Pretty good until afternoon then it tried to storm pretty bad but didnt storm much. I mowed in the forenoon but didnt do much in the afternoon. Johny raked for a business mostly.

Fri Oct 12 Nice clear warm and still. Will and Johny finished the barley stubble piece one load and hauled the hay on the 6 acre piece 2 loads. I helped Frank clean up some oats that Montgomerys machine ought to have cleaned and this afternoon I cleaned up the grainery.

Sat Oct 13 Quite nice. Johny raked and shocked the piece north of the house all but one row of shocks. I went to Denver to see if I could get some money from the O E Miller Co on acct [account] of their not curing me but Miller plead poverty or that he couldnt get any money so I had to come home without it and I am afraid that my chances are pretty slim for getting it.

Sun Oct 14 Good day. Mother and I went up to Franks to see our new grandson. We found him all right [alright] and Mrs Randall says he looks like me. The rest were pretty well only Mary looks pretty thin. Johny started home but met his sisters on the road so didnt go all of the way.

Mon Oct 15 Clear and very nice. We got one load of hay hauled and then Mr Marsh came and he and Johny finished the haying for this year by clearing the piece above the house got 4 loads from it though one was small. I fixed a place to set up the corn in the piece north of the barn.
